Peninsula Sports spotlights senior athletes from the central peninsula’s three public high schools recognizing outstanding student athletes for their individual accomplishments and contributions to their schools extra-curricular programs.
Representing Nikiski High School…
Michael Mysing
The three-sport athlete for the Nikiski Bulldogs, Michael Mysing excelled in football, basketball and soccer for Nikiski earning all-conference awards in all three sports.
Football
Starting on both offense and defense, Michael earned Peninsula Conference 1st Team honors as a halfback and as a kicker.
Basketball
A offensive sharp-shooter for the Bulldog boys basketball team, Michael was a main offensive threat for Nikiski. Michael was selected to the all-tournament team for the Kotzebue Husky basketball tournament (Nikiski won the championship).
Michael was selected as an Honorable Mention to the Southcentral Conference All-Conference Team.
Soccer
A 1st Team All-Peninsula Conference selection, Michael lead the Bulldogs to their first appearance in the Division II ASAA State Soccer Championships. The Bulldogs earned a state berth with a 3-0 victory over SoHi in the third place game at the conference tournament. Michael scored the first and last goals for the Bulldogs.
