Peninsula Sports spotlights senior athletes from the central peninsula’s three public high schools recognizing outstanding student athletes for their individual accomplishments and contributions to their schools extra-curricular programs.

Representing Soldotna High School… Wyatt Medcoff

SoHi senior Wyatt Medcoff excelled in three sports for Soldotna High School and competed at the state championship level in all three: football, hockey and track & field.

Football

Wyatt received Division II 1st Team All-State recognition in three categories as a mainstay of the 2019 SoHi football team which won four-straight state championships during Wyatt’s career and completed another undefeated season in 2019.

Wyatt was named Utility Player of the Year for Division II football and was selected to the 1st Team Offense as a running back and to the 1st Team Defense as a defensive back.

Wyatt also earned All-Northern Lights Conference 1st Team honors for running back, defensive back, and utility player in 2019

Hockey

A leading scorer in Division II hockey, Wyatt led the Stars to the Division II State Hockey championship game and a runner-up finish in 2020.  Wyatt was selected to the Division II All-Tournament Team and earned 1st All-Railbelt Conference Hockey recognition.

Track & Field

With the cancellation of the 2020 spring sports, Wyatt was denied an opportunity to compete at state in 2020; however, Wyatt did perform at a state level in 2019 (junior year).  Wyatt qualified to the ASAA State Track & Field Championships in the 300M hurdles and would have been the top-ranked, returning hurdler in Region III in 2020.  Wyatt also ran on relay units for the Stars.
