A full Friday of pool play and a Saturday of bracket play at the Dimond-Service Volleyball Tournament produced positive results for Kenai, SoHi and Nikiski in the final, statewide volleyball tournament before the upcoming conference tournaments for high school volleyball.
The Dimond Lynx win the 2022 Dimond-Service Volleyball Tournament with a Gold Bracket championship victory over West Anchorage 25-19, 25-16.
Kenai Volleyball
The Kenai Kardinals, 8-0 in D Pool play on Friday with victories over Seward, Chugiak, Palmer and North Pole, advanced to the Gold Bracket for Saturday. Kenai defeated Kodiak 2-1 before falling to tournament champion Dimond 2-0 in the Gold Bracket semi-final. Kenai closed with a wins over Chugiak and West Valley and a loss to tournament runner-up West 2-1.
The Kenai girls finish in third place in the Gold Bracket. Emma Beck and Jorgi Phillips were named to the All-Tournament Team.
SoHi Volleyball
Following a 3-5 record in C Pool action on Friday, splitting with Service and defeating Grace; the Soldotna Stars downed Nikiski 2-0 and fell 2-0 to Palmer in the Silver Bracket.
Nikiski Volleyball
The Bulldogs finished 3-5 in the A Pool on Friday taking two from West Valley and splitting with Juneau and advanced to the Silver Bracket for Saturday.
In bracket play, Nikiski dropped the first match to SoHi, defeated West Valley and lost to Lathrop.
