The Kenai Peninsula Air Fair is returning for its 21st year this Saturday, June 8th!
The Kenai Peninsula Air Fair and Fun Flight is an exhilarating annual event that combines the excitement of aviation with the spirit of community. During an interview with KSRM’s Merrill Sikorski, Derek Able, the Director of the Kenai Municipal Airport, said this event welcomes aviation enthusiasts, pilots, and families.
” We’re gonna have food trucks this year, so if you want to come out and enjoy some good food, come on out. We’re gonna have a fun flight as well, where pilots fly around to different airports and win great prizes. We’re also gonna have some booths available; the FAA will be here, Kenai Aviation will have a booth, Grant Aviation. So [it’s] a great way to get out and learn about the airport and see what goes on down there,” said Able.
The fun event is free to the public! Guests are welcome to wander about, speak with pilots, check out the booths, and view some of the aircraft on display.
All of the proceeds go back into Kenai Air Fair.
The Experimental Aircraft Association 975 puts on a Pancake Breakfast event that is not only open to the pre-registered pilots, but the public as well! It is done in the blue MARC hanger, and in conjunction with the City of Soldotna. Volunteers from MARC and the Peninsula Pilots Club are volunteering at this event, which will take place Soldotna Airport from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (595 Funny River Road). Pilots who registered will also be given an air-fair souvenir t-shirt.
Then, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., all pilots are welcome to join in the Fun Flight, which is held at the Kenai Municipal Airport (515 North Willow Street). This event allows pilots to collect cards from at least 5 airports and win prizes. Those prizes will be awarded around 2:30 p.m.
