Three home runs in the bottom of the eighth inning propelled the Anchorage Glacier Pilots past the Mat-Su Miners 6-3 in the championship game of the 2022 Alaska Baseball League Top of the World Series on Monday night.

The Glacier Pilots completed the ABL regular season as champions with a 30-9 record and sweep the Top of the World Series with a 4-3 victory over the Peninsula Oilers and a 6-3 win over Mat-Su.

In the championship game, the Glacier Pilots lead by a narrow 3-2 advantage after seven innings in a game plagued by stoppages to repair the turf-covered pitchers mound which started in the fifth inning and resulted in multiple attempts to repair the mound for over an hour.  The first pitch was delayed 30 minutes due to rain and threat of rain in Anchorage.

In the eighth inning, the Glacier Pilots broke open the game with back-to-back home runs, a fly ball out, and a third homerun of the inning for a 6-2 Pilots lead.

The Anchorage Glacier Pilots win their second-consecutive Alaska Baseball League Top of the World Series.
