Last night the Kenai Peninsula Borough Planning Commission heard more from both sides of a second petition for local option zoning in the Ciechanski area.

Director Max Best said the Planning Commission’s job is just to listen to the petitions and make recommendations to the borough assembly.

Best: “The planning commission recommended the removal of three adjoining parcel and then the formation of the rest of the parcels as one local option zone.”

Those three parcels belong to local business owner Sean Cude, who filed for a conditional land use permit for his property on July 25 in order to use the remaining four acres of gravel.

As of now the borough assembly has set a March hearing for the first and second petitions on local option zoning brought forward by residents of the area, pending a decision by the Board of Adjustment in January.
