High school football enters its final games of the regular season with a pair of games on Saturday; both games with playoff implications as playoff positions and playoff berths are still up-for-grabs in the Northern Lights and Peninsula Conferences.
Northern Lights Conference
SoHi vs Kenai @ SoHi Saturday 2:00 p.m. ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com
The Soldotna Stars will battle Kenai on Saturday and although SoHi stands at 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Northern Lights Conference, both teams will be playing for their respective playoff lives in the final regular season contest at Justin Maile Field.
The Stars, with a win, will secure the #1 seed for the NLC into the Medium School playoffs and a SoHi win advances Palmer into the playoffs as the #2 NLC seed.
A Kardinal (3-4, 2-1) victory and three teams, Kenai, SoHi and Palmer, will have 3-1 conference records and a conference tie-breaker will be used to determine playoff teams and rankings.
SoHi enters Saturday’s Senior Day contest with the most points scored in conference games at 131 and fewest points allowed at 21, including two shutouts. Kenai has scored 62 points in conference games while allowing 34 points.
The Stars look to extend the programs’ state-record, win streak to 47 games including five straight against the Kardinals.
The Medium School football playoffs are scheduled for Saturday, October 8th at Palmer High School.
Peninsula Conference

The Nikiski Bulldogs and the Seward Seahawks enter the regular season finale’ with matching 3-0 Peninsula Conference records, both teams have clinched playoff berths into the Small Schools football playoffs.
The Bulldogs (4-3, 3-0) and Seawawks (4-3, 3-0) will play for the opportunity to host a first-round playoff game on Saturday, October 8th; with the winner earning the right to host and the loser forced to travel to Fairbanks to face Aurora Conference champion Eielson. The Small Schools championship game will be hosted at Palmer High School on October 15th.
