Post 20 Downs South 7-6 As Twins Charge For Division Title

The final week of the regular season for American Legion baseball opened with a Monday victory for the Post 20 Twins over the American Division leading South Post 4 at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

 

The Twins, with four remaining league games, are making a charge for the American Division title and for one of eight positions into the Alaska Legion Baseball State Tournament.

 

Following Mondays Twins win, the Twins pass Dimond and trail Palmer by a lone point in the divisional standings; Kenai owns 43 points, Dimond 40 and Palmer stands in second place with 44 points.  South currently holds the top spot with 52 points.  The top three teams in the American and National Division’s automatically advance to the state tournament along with the next two, top point earners.

 

Twins 7 – South 6

The Twins posted a 7-0 lead in the fourth inning and weathered a South charge for the 7-6 leagues victory.  Logan Smith records the victory throwing a scoreless four inning before allowing five runs in the fifth.  Harrison Metz closed for the save.
