The Post 20 American Legion Twins baseball team opens play at the Northwest Class A Regional Tournament in Logan, Utah on Friday, August 7th.
The Twins, representing Alaska as the #1 seed from Alaska, following a runner-up finish at the Alaska State American Legion Championships. Juneau, as the #2 Alaska seed, also begins play today.
The Twins open against Wyoming at 2:30 ADT. Juneau plays in the 10:30 ADT game. Other teams in the tournament include Bitterroot Red Sox, Utah (host), Utah #1, Oregon and Idaho.
The double-elimination tournament continues through August 11th with the championship game set for Tuesday in Logan.
Chugiak Out At Northwest Regional
The Alaska Legion Baseball state champion Chugiak was bounced from the Northwest Regional on Thursday; Chugiak suffering its second loss in the double-elimination format tournament being held in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Bellevue [WA] struck early and often en route to a 20-2 victory at Powers Field. The Washington state champions scored 12 runs in the first three innings and collected a total of 17 hits.
