The local school district has been working overtime to calm fears after today’s school threats and following “stay put.”
K-Beach Elementary School Principal Nate Crabtree sent the following message to parents…
Crabtree: “I am calling to provide clarification of events of this afternoon. At about 1:10 today, K-Beach received an automated telephone call with a threatening message, similar to the calls received at schools throughout the state over the past few weeks. In response, our school went into lock down. Law enforcement responded to the school immediately. At about 1:35, law enforcement asked us to shift to a stay put mode, which means the outer doors remained locked, all students were in the building, and teachers resumed classroom activities. We continued in stay put mode through student dismissal time and Soldotna Police were present when school was dismissed for the day. You should have also received a message from the District officer earlier today to let you know that law enforcement determined that the call made to K-Beach was not credible. We will have school tomorrow as usual, please feel free to come in and visit with me or give me a call.”
K-Beach Elementary was the only school placed into an official lock-down. The School District says all other schools were put into a “stay put” mode.
