April is known as National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Mayor Borough Mike Navarre signed a proclamation at this week’s assembly meeting.
Lindsey Anasogak with the Kenaitze Indian tribe said there will be a candlelight vigil tomorrow night to honor and remember those who have experienced sexual assault.
Anasogak: “We will have a Kenaitze elder speak a little bit regarding sexual assault and then I am going to go over a little bit about our domestic violence, sexual assault program that we have here at the tribe.”
The public is invited, candles and refreshments will be provided to those who attend at the Tyotka’s Elder Center in the Fort Kenay building at 1004 Mission Ave. in Kenai at 4 pm.
