Before taking up an ordinance on townhouses tonight, the newly elected familiar faces of the Soldotna City Council will be sworn in at 5:50 pm.
Former Seat F Council Member Pete Sprague will take his oath of office as the mayor.
Sprague: “First of all I am very excited about taking office. And of course there are challenges I think looking at annexation is one. Addressing how we are going to deal with the revenue shortfall from the passage of ballot proposition 1 is another item. And addressing how Soldotna’s going to handle the legalization of marijuana, I think we’ll try to do that before the end of the year or shortly into the new year. So those are three big ones that are on the horizon.”
Incumbents Linda Murphy and Paul Whitney will also be sworn into Seat C and Seat A.
The council will then open up an ordinance that would simplify the construction of townhouses for public comment.
The City Council meeting will begin immediately after the swearing-in, at 6:00 pm in Soldotna City Hall.
