Homer Electric Association garners a majority of its power from generation plants in Nikiski, Bernice Lake, and Soldotna along with a share of the state owned Hydroelectric Power gained from Bradley Lake.
HEA’s Joe Gallagher said the utility continues to look at other opportunities, one of those being the Grant Lake Hydroelectric Project.
Gallagher said if that application gets approved, the fate of the project would then be in FERC’s hands which could take up to two years.
That public comment period will close on June 29 this summer.
To comment on the project visit the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s library where the Draft License Application can be found. For more from HEA on the project, click here.
