The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is reopening the public comment period and holding a public hearing on proposed amendments to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge’s public use regulations.. The proposed rule is now available in the Federal Register for public inspection. Any proposed amendments are intended to align with state regulations and improve access and opportunities for hunting, fishing and other public uses.

The Service will accept comments received or postmarked on or before November 9.

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is Alaska’s most visited national wildlife refuge and provides many opportunities for hunting, fishing, hiking, wildlife observation, camping, river floating, and canoeing. The refuge’s regulations are intended to ensure safe, high-quality opportunities for public use, consistent with the Wildlife Service’s responsibilities to conserve fish, wildlife and habitats in their natural diversity, protect cultural resources, steward designated wilderness, and provide continued opportunities for subsistence uses.

Comments will be accepted by the following methods:

Electronically by visiting the Refuge website. Comments must be submitted by 7:59 p.m. Alaska Time on November 9.
Mail by U.S. Postal Service or hand deliver to:
