On Friday, August 28, at 3:00 p.m. in the Anchorage Legislative Information Office, the Senate Resources Committee will hold a hearing to take public testimony on and consider Governor Mike Dunleavy’s appointees to the Board of Fisheries: John Jensen, McKenzie Mitchell, Abe Williams, and John Wood.

 

Senator Peter Micciche told KSRM News that this issue should be important to residents of the Kenai, and all Alaskans: “The Board of Fish is important to all Alaskans that care about the fishery. The legislature was cut short last year because of COVID. It really hasn’t been a formal review of these candidates and that falls under my committee in Resources, so we decided to give the public an opportunity to hear about these individuals and participate in public testimony. We want to know how you feel about these four choices… We thought it was important, also, while the 2020 fishing season was fresh on the minds of commercial sport, personal use, and the subsistence users of our resources. So, we hope to hear from everyone. Feel free to call. The more calls we have, managing time, I ask people to please consider that your public testimony might be limited to two minutes or a little less, depending on how many calls we get.”
