Public testimony has been scheduled on Medicaid reform and expansion which Governor Bill Walker has deemed a must for the remainder of this legislative session.
Throughout his campaign and short time as Alaska’s governor he has pushed the importance of it.
Gov. Walker: “Investing in health of Alaskans is sound, prudent, fiscal policy. We all want Alaskans to be as productive as possible.”
Currently there are three bills pertaining to medicaid expansion and reform moving through the Alaska State legislature.
Public testimony on House Bill 148 has been scheduled for tomorrow(Thursday, March 26) and Saturday, March 28, both at 3 pm.
One of the main reform actions would be is the adoption of the 1915 i and k plans, which was specifically included in the house bill.
The senate version, Senate Bill 78, has been referred to the Health and Social Service and Finance Committees but a public hearing for that has not yet been scheduled.
Kenai Peninsula residents may testify at the Kenai Legislative Office tomorrow.
