Due to the cost of business increasing, Ravn Alaska says that they need to adjust their own fees. For all tickets purchased on or after September 1, 2022, Ravn Alaska will begin charging all passengers for baggage. The company cites that, besides being a small business, the cost of having to pay for fuel, parts and labor all have increased.

They wrote in a social media post:

“It has been an interesting couple of years with a pandemic, war, and on top of that inflation affecting everyone. Through all of it, we have made every effort to provide the very best experience we can for you, our passengers.”

Passengers are encouraged to check baggage for carriage in the cargo compartment of the aircraft and/or may carry baggage on board the aircraft subject to their policy. Additionally, carry-on baggage is required to be weighed at check-in.

Fees for checked baggage per passenger includes $30 for your first bag, $40 for second bag, and $100 for third and additional bags (note: bags that weigh up to 50lbs and have maximum dimensions of 62’’). During peak travel periods, they may limit the number of bags that can be checked per passenger. Baggage fee waivers apply to U.S. military personnel. Any baggage which exceeds the size or weight allowance, is subject to the additional fees outlined on their website.

During peak travel period, Ravn Alaska will limit the number of checked bags by each passenger year-round to and from Kenai, Homer, Dutch Harbor, Sand Point, and Cold Bay. The restrictions include no more than two checked bags per person and additional bags may be checked and accepted on a standby, space-available basis.
