The National Weather Service in Anchorage reports that a Red Flag Warning is in effect until 10:00 p.m. this evening for hot, dry, and windy conditons north of Clam Gulch for the Western Kenai Peninsula with predicted East winds up to 15mph with gusts possible up to 25mph.
The warning is in effect from 12:00 p.m. noon today until 10:00 p.m. Forecasters predict relatively humidity as low as 20% and temperatures ranging from between 65 and 70 degrees.
This means that rapid ignition, growth, and spread of fires will be possible under this Red Flag Warning. Additionally, winds are expected to become gusty out of the east-southeast again this afternoon through evening with low min RH values. Winds will subside this evening with good RH recovery overnight.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are imminent or occurring now, or will shortly. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them to the public.
