In its 35th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company announced Destiny Reimers of Anchorage Christian School as its 2019-20 Gatorade Alaska Girls Basketball Player of the Year and Isaiah Moses of Dimond High School as its 2019-20 Gatorade Alaska Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport.
Gatorade’s Play it Forward Program will donate $1,000 to a local or national charity of the state winners choosing to help youth access sport.
The most recent Alaska Gatorade Player of the Year selection from the Kenai Peninsula was Ninilchik’s Austin White in 2016-17.

Destiny Reimers
Destiny Reimers is the first Gatorade Alaska Girls Basketball Player of the Year to be chosen from Anchorage Christian School.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Reimers as Alaska’s best high school girls basketball player.
The 5-foot-9 senior guard led the Lions to a 21-1 record at the time of her selection. Reimers averaged 18.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.9 steals through 22 games. A three-time First Team 3A All-State honoree, Reimer earn 2020 Southcentral Conference MVP.
Reimers has volunteered assisting the elderly in Alaska Native communities. “Destiny Reimers is an incredible player and has been for four years,” said Sondra Lundvick, head coach at Sitka High. “She’s a strong ball-handler with a great shot, but she can also defend.”
Reimers has maintained a 3.98 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks this fall.
Isaiah Moses
Isaiah Moses of Dimond High School as its 2019-20 Gatorade Alaska Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Moses is the second Gatorade Alaska Boys Basketball Player of the Year to be chosen from Dimond High School.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary
character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Moses as Alaska’s best high school boys basketball player.
The 6-foot, 165-pound senior guard led the Lynx to a 19-5 record at the time of his selection. Moses averaged 27.2 points, 4.9 assists and 2.3 steals during the regular season. A First Team 4A All-State selection and the Cook Inlet Conference Player of the Year, he was MVP of the Alaska
Prep Shootout and the Alaska Airlines Classic.
Moses has volunteered locally on behalf of his school’s peer mentorship program as well as youth basketball camps. “Moses is a true point guard in every sense of the word,” said Jeremy Arnhart, head coach at Palmer High. “He elevates everyone around him, including himself on
the biggest stages. He’s a long-range shooter who can create his own shot, and he sees the floor very well.”
Moses has maintained a B average in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at the University of Alaska-Anchorage this fall.
