Yesterday (Wednesday), the Kenai Chamber Luncheon was held in the newly renovated Kenai Catering building where owner Bobbi England revealed future plans for the business.
England: “We put on an entirely new roof, remodeled the front area, and there will be in the very near future our bakery and dessert shop.”
The theme of the luncheon was ‘Kenai Through the Years,’ and England told us about the role of her building in Kenai’s history.
England: “This building was built in 1963, so it was 50 years old last year when we bought it. It first started out off as the Royal Redoubt. From there it became the Sheffield House through Governor Sheffield, and then after that it became the Merit and now it’s Kenai Catering. And so over the span of all of those years, this has actually been four different establishments.”
England said that she is thinking about naming the new 110-person banquet room in honor of the Sheffield House.
