Repeal of ACA Unlikely According to Conference

Questions of the majority repealing the Affordable Care Act were addressed at last week’s conference previewing the second enrollment period that opened Saturday.

Regional Director Susan Johnson with the US Department of Health and Human Services said she doubted the federal policy would be going anywhere.

Johnson: “Well just a reminder of civics, there are two houses, and the current house has already voted 40 times I believe to repeal the Affordable Care Act but it’s still there, it didn’t pass and as we know the president still has the veto pen and I can’t imagine a situation in which he would not veto that kind of a repeal so even if the Senate does vote to repeal it both chambers have to vote on it and ultimately it ends up on the President’s desk.”

The second enrollment period opened Saturday, November 15 and will be open through February 15, 2015.
