The 2014 Kenai dipnet season saw better than expected financial returns to the city; they now head into FY 2015 with a smaller deficit than forecast.
Kenai Finance Director Terry Eubank stated, “The projection right now is for revenues to be in excess of budgeted amounts by $56,367. Expenditures are also projected to be in excess of original budgeted amounts by $45,958. As a result the fund is projected to have a deficit of $1,730 for FY15 operations. The fund was budgeted with a $12,139 deficit originally. The fund is projected to end FY2015 with a fund balance (savings balance) of $27,333. The fund started the year with a fund balance of $29,063.”
Kenai City Manager Rick Koch detailed what the city will look into tonight at the dipnet work session.
Koch: “We’ll talk about what worked, what didn’t work, what things we can do to maybe modify how we manage the fishery on our end so that it works smoother, we’ll be spending a little bit of time talking about the no wake zone that we instituted this year and how that worked and how we can make that work better.”
That work session will begin at 6 pm at the Kenai Council Chambers.
