The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities reports that the Richardson Highway has reopened to one lane traffic with a pilot car and flaggers. The highway was reopened at 12:00 p.m. noon on Sunday, July 17th, according to a DOT post on social media.

Drivers should expect delays of 30 minutes or more.

The closure occurred due to a bridge washout from flash flooding. DOT crews have been working around the clock to make efforts to keep the road open with the forecasted rain that has fallen in that region of Alaska.
