Road Trip! Basketball Teams Travel For Holidays

Holiday basketball tournaments featuring local high school programs fill the vacation schedule, with the SoHi girls, Kenai girls and Nikiski boys playing out-of-town tournaments.

 

SoHi Girls @ So. Cal Holiday Prep Classic in San Diego

The Soldotna Lady Stars are competing in the 64-team So. Cal Holiday Prep Classic in San Diego with tournament games scheduled through December 30th.

On Tuesday, The Lady Stars overpowered El Cajon Valley High School 50-15, improving to 2-1 in pool play.  The Stars play Campo Verde, Arizona at 11:30 a.m. AST on Wednesday to close-out tournament play.

In Monday’s pool play round, the SoHi girls fell in overtime 47-43 to San Pasqual High School.

The SoHi girls won their opening game 43-39 over Fullerton Union High School.  The Stars continue pool play on Tuesday against El Cajon Valley at 4:00 p.m. AST

Kenai Girls @ Capital City Classic in Juneau

The Kenai Kardinal girls fell to host Juneau-Douglas 31-27 on Tuesday night at Juneau-Douglas High School.

The Kardinal girls opened round-robin tournament play at the Capital City Classic in Juneau on Monday at Juneau-Douglas High School dropping their first game to Chugiak High School.

The Kardinal girls play Sitka on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.

Nikiski Boys @ Makahiki Hou Invitational in Hawaii.

The Bulldog boys opened play at the Makahiki Hou Invitational in Hawaii on Monday with a pair of victories.  Nikiski defeated Algester of Australia 53-35 and downed deToledo High School of West Hills, California 64-61,

The Bulldogs, in doubleheader play on Tuesday,  defeated Konawaena 66-63 and fell to Kealakehe 65-56.

Nikiski has an off-day on Wednesday and returns for another doubleheader on Thursday.
