Robert Peterkin II Resigns From Kenai City Council

Only two days after expressing a great deal of excitement about his pending work serving on the council’s beautification board during the Wednesday, November 4 meeting of the Kenai City Council, Robert Peterkin II submitted his resignation from the City Council today, November 6.

 

In a statement released by Kenai Mayor Brian Gabriel on Friday, he noted: “Mr. Peterkin stated that it was an honor and pleasure to serve the residents of Kenai but that he is no longer able to devote his full attention to the position. Mr. Peterkin was elected to the Council in October 2018 and his term would have ended on October 25, 2021. As Mayor, I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Peterkin for his service to the City and its residents. Mr. Peterkin’s optimism, community spirit, and creative problem solving that he brought to the Council will be missed and difficult to replace.”

 

The City Council has not yet determined a timeline for filing the vacancy. KSRM will provide details when they become available.

 

The next scheduled meeting of the Kenai City Council is on December 12 at 6:00 p.m.
