Halloween Night is Fight Night for Soldotna’s Victor Rodriguez. as the 28-year-old mixed-martial arts fighter is booked on the card for the Ultimate Fighting Championships 181 on Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The event is billed at UFC Vegas 12 and will be Victor Rodriguez’s tenth professional bout and the biggest billing in Rodriguez’s career. Rodriguez stands 5-foot-5 ,weighs 135 pounds, owns a 7-2 professional record and on October 20th signed a four-fight deal with UFC.
Victor Rodriguez enters the octagon Saturday against highly-touted Adrian Yanez, who is making his UFC debut after winning his way into the UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series earlier this year. Rodriguez, on two weeks notice, replaces Aaron Phillips on the Halloween fight card.
Rodriguez-Yanez is the sixth fight on the preliminary card with the first bout of the night set for Saturday at noon ADT.
The main event on October 31st in Vegas features Anderson Silva battling Uriah Hall in the middleweight main event, in possibly the final fight in the career of Anderson “The Spider” Silva.
Rodriguez, a graduate of Skyview High School, won the bantamweight title at Alaska Fighting Championships 157 back on February 26th against fellow Kenai Peninsula fighter (from Nikiski) Jared Mazurek.
The prize money for the UFC match is preset at $10,000 for the appearance and an additional $10,000 for a Rodriguez victory. Possible additional bonuses are available including a knockout bonus of $50,000 and a $50,000 fight of the night bonus.
UFC Vegas 12 will be broadcast on ESPN+, with the main card starting at 7 p.m. ET and the prelims at 4 p.m. ET.
