Roundabouts Seeing Drivers Approach Too Quickly

Following a fender bender in a Binkley roundabout on Monday, the City put out devices to slow drivers approaching the intersections.

Manager for the Binkley Street Project Lee Frey…

Frey: “We’re actually ordering some new signs that we’re going to be swapping out on the road there in front of all the roundabouts, putting up that kind of language that’s basically going to say yield to traffic in the circle and we’re going to be putting up some caution 15 mph speed limit signs ahead of it to try and get people to realize that they need to slow down, we don’t want people going straight through at 25 mph without touching their breaks. Look to the left and yield to traffic in the circle is kind of the basic premise that we’er going with here.”

He said drivers should approach the roundabouts ready to be able to stop if needed.

Anyone with questions may visit the Binkley Street Project website to see an instructional video on how to use the mini-roundabouts.
