Support for Robert Ruffner as the governor’s pick for the open seat on the state Board of Fisheries is growing.
Soon after he was appointed, Borough Assemblyman Brent Johnson brought forward a resolution of support.
Asm. Brent Johnson(Clam Gulch): “Actually, he’s a dip netter, so that’s another thing that makes it real interesting and kind of easy for a lot of people to get behind him: he doesn’t divide the big guide/commercial battle that’s typically gone on. I think he’s approachable by all sides.”
The Borough’s resolution passed and last week the Soldotna City Council unanimously passed a resolution of support also.
Tonight’s Kenai City Council will hear correspondence from Governor Bill Walker in regards to Ruffner’s appointment and will also vote on a resolution of support.
Ruffner’s appointment is still subject to legislative confirmation.
Tonight’s Kenai City Council meeting begins at 7 pm in the Kenai City Hall Chambers.
