Cross country running teams from the central peninsula split events with the Stars competing at the Frank Dieckgraff Invitational in Seward and the Kardinals competing in Wasilla at the Wasilla Invitational.
Frank Dieckgraff Invitational
The Soldotna boys topped the field in Seward finishing in first in the team scoring. SoHi’s Sean Verg-in lead the Star boys with a fourth-place finish; Koby Vinson finished sixth, Josh Shuler in seventh, Lance Chilton in eighth and Bradley Walters in tenth.
SoHi’s top finisher in the girls race was Erika Arthur in sixth; Seward’s Ruby Lindquist won the girls competition. The Homer girls won the team competition placing four runners in the top eight.
Wasilla Invitational
The Kenai Kardinal girls ran away witht he team title in Wasilla at the Wasilla Invitational which featured many of Region III’s top teams.
The Kardinal girls were lead by Addison Gibson who finished as runner-up to event winner Tessa O’Hara of Anchorage Christian School. Kenai’s Riana Boonstra finished third, followed by Kenai’s Jacie Calvert in fourth and Brooke Satathite in sixth.
The ACS boys won the team title with Blake Bennett topping the field in the boys varsity race. Kenai’s Maison Dunham finished fifth overall.
