Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula is hosting a free Car Seat Safety Check-Up Event on Monday, June 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Central Emergency Services Station #1 in Soldotna on Binkley Street.
The event is open to all families—whether you’re expecting a baby, wondering if it’s time for the next car seat stage, or want to double-check your current setup. They’ll inspect installations, answer questions, and ensure seats are properly fitted to your child and vehicle.
“Over 75% of car seats are installed incorrectly, so these checkups help ensure everything is safe and secure,” said Safe Kids Coordinator Brad Nelson.
Thanks to support from Central Peninsula Hospital and a state grant from the Alaska Highway Safety Office, new car seats will also be available at a reduced cost.
“It’s not just about getting a new car seat,” Nelson emphasized. “It’s making sure your current setup is correct for your child and your vehicle.”
The event is free, and no appointments are necessary.
Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula Coalition’s mission is to prevent the number one killer of children – unintentional injury. The Coalition works to educate adults and children, provide safety devices to families in need, and pass and strengthen laws to empower families and their communities to protect children.
They aim to host monthly car seat checkups in rotation with fire departments across the peninsula.
