Alaska State Troopers conducted an arrest in Nikiski on Friday after they received an alert from a satellite radio provider about a vehicle that was stolen in Anchorage.

Sirius XM notified AST A Detachment in Soldotna around 11:00 AM on Friday, Nov. 24 that they were tracking a stolen vehicle out of Anchorage. At that time, the satellite radio service indicated to Troopers that the vehicle was located at a residence in Nikiski.

Troopers responded to the residence, and upon arriving observed the stolen vehicle running in the driveway with Brendon Valdez, 32 of Anchorage, seated in the driver’s seat.

When troopers attempted to make contact with him, Valdez tried to flee in the stolen ride, ramming a Trooper patrol vehicle in the process. A brief pursuit ensued lasting approximately 2 miles when Valdez stopped and surrendered without further incident.

Valdez was arrested and found in possession of controlled substances as well as firearms. He was arrested for First degree Fail to stop, 3rd degree Assault on a police officer, 2nd degree Misconduct involving a controlled substance, 2nd and 3rd degree Misconduct involving weapons, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Valdez was transported to Wildwood Pretrial for remand without bail.
