Saturday Basketball Features Conference and Tournament Results

In Peninsula Conference basketball on Saturday, the Kenai Kardinals traveled to Grace Christian School for conference showdowns with the Grizzlies.  Both Grace girls and boys remain undefeated in Peninsula Conference play.

Grace Christian Girls 62, Kenai Girls 16

Grace controlled play throughout led by a 21-point effort by Sophie Lentfer.  Kenai’s Chloe Goldsby scored 11 for the Kardinals.

Grace Christian Boys 46, Kenai Boys 28

The Grizzlies defeat Kenai 46-28 in a pairing of the top teams in the Peninsula Conference. For the Grizzlies, Luke Lentfer scored 14; Jakob Kvasnikoff topped the Kards with 16 points.

 

Nenana Invitational Tournament

The Cook Inlet Academy boys completed a 3-0 run through tournament play with a championship game 62-46 victory over Tri-Valley for the Nenana Invitational championship.  Abraham Henderson scored 20 points for CIA.

The CIA girls fell in the 3rd Place game 37-27 to Tri-Valley on Saturday. Hope Hillyer topped the Eagles with 10 points.

All-Tournament selections for the Eagles included: Girls: Tatum Rozak; Boys: Abraham Henderson, Ian McGarry and Alex McGarry

 

Seward Seahawk Classic

The Houston Boys defeated Ninilchik in Saturday’s championship game 63-59. Houston’s Cole Taylor scored 17 for the Hawks; Cole Moore topped the Wolverine with 22 points.

The Seward Girls downed Eielson 53-7 to complete tournament play at 3-0. Ninilchik fell to Houston on Saturday 42-11.
