Dusek: “That meeting begins at 6:00 pm, we are going to have a school presentation from Chapman’s school. There are committee meetings and work sessions that begin at 12:45 here at the Assembly Chambers, so if you’d like to stop by that’d be great. The full agenda is on our website. Tomorrow we also are going to have some more board work sessions, in the morning we’ll focus on the history of the school at Kachemak Selo and also our intensive needs programming, that’s going to be held over at Soldotna High School’s auditorium.”

Assistant Superintendent Dave Jones will give a presentation of the preliminary Fiscal Year 2017 budget at this evening’s School Board meeting. The structure of that budget will also be discussed at a 4:00 work session that is open to the public.

Also on the agenda for today, nine parcels of land(seven of which remain undeveloped) in Kenai that were purchased by the Board of Education in 1981 for expansion of the vocational education programs.

The memo for that discussion item states: “One option for the parcels is to dispose of some or all of the parcels with the proceeds to be allocated to the Career and Technical Education program, which meets the criteria of the articles of incorporation, or the CTE program could revitalize the building program.”

Several members of the school district also shared written reports with the School Board of the Learning & the Brain Conference that they attended during February in San Francisco.

The work session on Tuesday, March 8, will be from 9:30 am to 11 am at Soldotna High School.
