KPBSD Confirms Troopers Were Searching for Teacher

The school district has confirmed that the teacher involved in the internal Kenai Peninsula Borough School District investigation was the man Troopers were searching for Thursday and have made contact with him.

 

A press release stated that Troopers made contact with the man around noon today, he was parked in his vehicle on the Spur Highway. Due to physical injuries, Troopers called an ambulance that transported him to a local hospital to be treated. He is not in custody of the Troopers at this time and his name has not been released.

 

An earlier press release stated that an internal school district investigation began Thursday morning, which resulted in a call to the Alaska State Troopers with allegations of inappropriate behavior between a teacher and a student.

 

According to the release, further information resulted in the district taking precautionary measures and locking down Nikiski Middle-High School and Nikiski North Star Elementary while they worked with law enforcement.

 

The teacher involved in the investigation is reportedly on administrative leave and school administrators along with district personnel are continuing to cooperate with the AST.

 

The Trooper dispatch report from Thursday stated that they responded to the man who was threatening to take his own life by consuming sleeping pills and alcohol and had been at the school earlier that day.

 

The Troopers have taken the lead on the case.
