An 11-year-old Anchor Point girl was the victim of a horrific crash last Christmas, losing both her legs above the knee. Angelica Haakenson has been at Seattle Children’s Hospital, learning to walk with prosthetics.
The Borough last week introduced crucial funding for improvements to Chapman Elementary School so Angelica can continue her studies.
Assemblyman Brent Johnson…
Asm. Johnson: “This is some money that was appropriated for some ADA work in the schools and the Borough has done a Borough-wide study to identify other ADA improvements that need to be made. There was money that was left over from the original project and that is being now directed for these additional projects. One of the projects in Chapman Elementary at Anchor Point involves a young lady who was involved in an accident this past Christmas and needs these improvements to attend there.”
There will be a public hearing on the ordinance at the March 17 Assembly meeting.
Friends and family have so far privately raised over $66,000 for Angelica through an online Gofundme account, which you can find at: http://www.gofundme.com/jc001c. You can also contribute to Wells Fargo account number 2413583861.
