Schools Around Alaska Receiving Threatening Calls

A series of threatening messages have been received in at least seven schools across Alaska since April 27.

 

Fairbanks, Juneau, Anchorage and Kenai schools have reported the calls which have prompted officials to place campuses on lockdown or stay-put modes over the last ten days.

 

It was confirmed that a school in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District received a call after school let out Tuesday. No lockdown was initiated, but police were called.

 

Juneau-Douglas High School was targeted on two separate days, including Tuesday also.

 

Sgt. Krag Campbell with the Juneau Police said the voice sounded automate or scrambled on the call to the high school shortly after 3 pm Tuesday which stated there was a gunman on campus and many casualties.

 

Officials say none of the calls received have been deemed credible.

 

The Alaska State Troopers notified the FBI who is evaluating whether the cases fall under federal jurisdiction.
