A semi crashed deep into the trees on a highway corner in Cooper Landing this morning.
Central Emergency Services’ Brad Nelson said medics were called to mile 52 of the Sterling Highway at 5am…
Nelson: “The person was deep into the trees, so it was a task to get some trees cut, get some space, get everything back onto the roadway. The patient did have serious injuries, so LifeMed was called. Luckily the crews responding heard the update on the patient’s status so called LifeMed early, so it was a good timely response, so they met LifeMed at Resurrection Trailhead. They were able to fly him to Anchorage with serious conditions.”
Nelson said it’s not yet clear why the driver missed the turn.
