The proposed LNG pipeline would be a 42″ diameter line (operating at around 2,000 psi) spanning 800 miles from Prudhoe Bay to a Liquefaction Plant in Nikiski. From that plant, LNG would be shipped to Asia
In the midst of big oil companies buying up properties in Nikiski to start construction on the new facility, we spoke to Sen. Peter Micciche in Juneau who said he isn’t quite sure he’s accepting of all the partners involved in the project.
Sen. Micciche: “My key focus areas right now are determining whether or not I support this memorandum of understanding on the large diameter pipeline and LNG project coming to Southcentral. I very much support the project but I’m not sure we have the right mix of partners and we’re spending many hours evaluating that proposal.”
The Senator said he wants to make sure everything is done right for Alaskans.
Sen Micciche: “This is a business relationship that will be ongoing for more than a generation so we need to make it right, we need to make sure that its of maximum value and return to the people of Alaska and we need to make sure that the right experts are evaluating that proposal so people back home will be hearing a lot on that issue.”
