Last week members from the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly and Soldotna City Council traveled to Juneau to present the top priority issues.
Senator Peter Micciche recapped some of the visitors and their topics they brought.
Sen. Micciche: “Well it’s always great to have them here. We had a lot of visitors, earlier we had the City Manager from Soldotna and Kyle Cornelis were here. And then recently we had some of the folks from the Borough Assembly. They talked about some of their capital needs and some things they’d like to see in legislation and they seemed to be somewhat supportive of the job I’m doing down here which is always nice to hear. So I think it was a great visit.”
Some items discussed on the trip to the capital were things that would directly impact the Kenai Peninsula and Soldotna like motor vehicle taxes, House Bill 77, and the hiring of an LNG consultant by the Borough.
Sen. Micciche said it was a very busy time.
Sen. Micciche: “It would have been nice to kind of relax with them a little bit there’s just a lot going on this year, but it was very good to see them. I hope we do well in the capital budget this year although Alaskans have to understand that it will be reduced and hopefully the operating budget will be reduced as well.”
