Sen. Murkowski Announces Grants Going To Alaska – $1.71 Million To Kenai Municipal Airport

Earlier this month, President Joe Biden signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law, which provides historic investments into roads, bridges, ports, airports, broadband, ferries, water and wastewater, resilience, and energy projects – modernizing and upgrading the nation’s core infrastructure. Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who was the lead author and negotiator of the infrastructure package, helped secure several provisions critical to improving, maintaining, and upgrading Alaska’s infrastructure.

 

 

There were 25 grants from the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration for economic relief funds for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, debt service payments, and combating the spread of pathogens. The Kenai Municipal Airport is set to receive a grant of $1.71 million. In addition, 15 grants were announced for organizations, Tribal entities, and communities in Alaska and three grants were announced from the DOT, FAA which will provide economic relief from rent and minimum annual guarantees to small airport concessions located at primary airports. One of those included the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is set to receive a $2.34 million grant from the FAA, which aims to provide economic relief from rent and minimum annual guarantees to small airport concessions.
