Sen. Murkowski On How Inflation Is Affecting Alaskans Going Into Thanksgiving

Inflation has caused price spikes across the country. Despite the White House praising several weeks of declines in new unemployment claims, inflation has caused dramatic price spikes.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on CBS’ Face the Nation explained that inflation is expected to continue through mid-2022:

It really depends on the pandemic. The pandemic has been calling the shots for the economy and for inflation. … It led to a dramatic increase in demand for products. Households were unable to spend on surfaces, going out to eat and traveling.”

She says prices could go back to normal levels by next summer if the U.S. is successful in handling the pandemic.

Meanwhile, those same rising energy costs and inflation are harming Alaskans, so says Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who stated that the Biden Administration’s bad policies aren’t helping:

Sen. Murkowski calls for a drop in hostility against American energy producers, a drop in the harmful resource provisions in partisan reconciliation bill and support and approval for major projects like Willow in Alaska.
