Senator Lisa Murkowski called the most recent postponements of the Affordable Care Act politically motivated.
We spoke with Matthew Felling in Sen. Murkowski’s office.
Felling: “They keep pushing off the delays that could make this more workable but would hurt them politically. And we’re seeing that their priority is not making it workable but protecting their own skin, their own image.”
In a press release Sen. Murkowski stated that the law has fallen short of making health care more affordable or more accessible to Alaskans.
Felling commented that so far the math doesn’t add up.
Felling: “All we’re seeing across Alaska from little pieces of mail or studies done by government accounting association or health care providers is spikes in premiums because this is, as it is constituted right now, an extremely unsustainable law.”
Since November there have been 27 significant delays or changes by the administration to the Affordable Care Act.
