U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski is currently on a road trip from Fairbanks to Anchorage as she heads here to give an update on Washington D.C. at Wednesday’s joint Kenai and Soldotna Chamber luncheon.

The senator’s flight from Fairbanks got cancelled because of continued ash emissions from Pavlof Volcano’s eruption.

Sen. Murkowski (R-Alaska): “Here we are on our Pavlof Road Trip, going from Fairbanks to Anchorage and our first stop is here in Nenana, we’re here on the Tanana River here is the Nenana Ice Classic, the tripod sitting on the ice.”

Kenai Chamber of Commerce President Johna Beech says there’s nothing specific that the senator’s office said she’ll be talking about.

Beech: “Not anything in particular that we know of, it’s just a blanketed update from D.C.. She always has some good nuggets of information so we’ll see what she has to say.”

Beech says the catered lunch for Wednesday is at capacity for RSVPs but those interested in Senator Murkowski’s address are welcome to attend and just listen.

The luncheon will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, March 30 in the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center.
