The Pentagon announced the final withdrawal of U.S. troops yesterday, ending America’s longest war. The 20-year U.S. military mission in Afghanistan ended Monday with the final withdrawal of U.S. troops. Over the past few weeks, the U.S. removed more than 122,000 people from Afghanistan. That included more than 5,000 Americans.
Sen. Dan Sullivan provides his thoughts as the last U.S. military personnel left Afghanistan:

Meanwhile, the Taliban celebrated the departure of U.S. troops after two decades with fireworks and celebratory gunfire. A spokesman at the now-Taliban-controlled Kabul airport said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is now a ‘free and sovereign nation’. He also said that the new government wants good relations with the rest of the world.
