As the world watches the situation in Afghanistan unfold, Sen. Dan Sullivan said that no American who has ever sacrificed for their fellow solder, or for the national security & liberty of our country has ever died in vain. In April, Sullivan questioned Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, head of the U.S. Central Command, whether the sacrifice of tens of thousands of Americans in Afghanistan was in vain.
In a @SASCGOP hearing w/ the @CENTCOM Commander in April, I raised a discomforting question that some are now asking: Was the sacrifice of tens thousands of Americans in #Afghanistan—including the ultimate sacrifice of thousands of our best young men and women—in vain. pic.twitter.com/oZ3dZ9JK7q

Meanwhile, the Taliban gained control of the capital city of Kabul after the Afghan President fled the country. The situation at the Kabul airport is chaotic. U.S. troops have maintained control of the airport, but thousands of Afghans are trying to get out of the country.
