Sen. Dan Sullivan is discussing American energy independence. Demand continues to increase for oil, in spite of the OPEC+ announcement that the group of oil-producing nations would slash output by 2 million barrels per day. AAA said that that the higher cost for oil typically means more expensive gasoline.
Sen. Sullivan appeared on Fox Business saying that Americans want their energy independence back:
“This is the definition of insane and what happened last week when OPEC+, which, by the way, is OPEC plus Russia, when they came back and said ‘no, we’re actually going to cut 2 million barrels a day’ after the president literally went to Saudi Arabia on bended knee to ask for more production and he got 2 million less, it’s an embarrassment to our country and it shows just how weak the Biden Administration is from foreign policy. American energy is American strength, and they are unilaterally surrendering it.”
According to Fox Business, the Biden Administration is set to decide on the future of federal offshore fossil fuel drilling and is considering blocking new leases.
According to Sen. Sullivan:
“I think the biggest disaster of all has been their energy policies and here’s why. It cuts across so many key elements of American interests, national security, energy security, environmental policy, jobs, inflation. On every single one of these issues, the Biden Administration’s energy policies are undermining Americans. Here are the facts, cause it’s continuing, from day one, this administration started by shutting down the production of American energy, making it harder to move American energy through infrastructure, cancelling pipelines, going to our financial institutions saying ‘don’t invest in American energy.’”
Alaska is recognized as currently having the nation’s second most expensive gasoline with a statewide average of $5.54, second only to California, which is seeing gas over $6 a gallon. The national average is $3.92.
