Motorists are encouraged to take an alternate route as a serious two vehicle accident is impeding traffic on the Kenai Spur Highway near Kenai Central High School at 2:15pm Thursday.
A head on collision occurred close to the intersection of the Spur Highway and Tinker Lane. A small black KIA sedan and a large silver SUV both sustained major front end damage.
An ambulance is standing by as medics remove the drivers from their vehicles. Kenai Police Sargent Paul Cushman says an elderly male was removed from the SUV and a Kenai female in her 40’s was removed from the sedan. Both sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The accident occurred close to the time students were being released from school. Sgt. Cushman says the SUV appears to have been driving into Kenai when it crossed the center line and collided with the sedan.
