The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced a setnet opening in the Kenai, Kasilof, and East Foreland sections on Thursday, August 6, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
As of August 4, the inriver run of Kenai River late-run king salmon at the River Mile 14 sonar site is estimated to be 18,136 fish.
Since July 26, 2015, the final king salmon escapement estimate in the Kenai River has decreased every day.
Based on the current inriver cumulative passage, the final escapement of late-run king salmon in the Kenai River is projected to be less than 22,500 fish.
