Seven Run Inning For Oilers Closes Gap; Panners Win 8-7

Trailing 8-0 into the bottom of the sixth inning in Sunday’s exhibition game with the Alaska Goldpanners, the Peninsula Oilers plated seven runs on the strength of two homeruns, a double and five hits to draw the Oilers to within a run at 8-7.

 

Panners 8 – Oilers 7

The Fairbanks Goldpanners opened the seven-inning contest with five, first inning runs aided by four walks and a hit batter.  The Panners added three runs in the third inning, scoring three runners who reached base on base-on-balls.  Fairbanks lead 8-0 after three innings and the Oilers pitchers held down the Panners for the next four innings.

 

All of the Oilers offense came in the sixth inning after the lead-off hitter Henry Noviki reached on an error.

–Bryce Marsh singles; Cole Hage delivers a one-out, three run home run: Oilers 6 – Panners 8

The Panners and Oilers went up and down in order in the seventh. Final Score: Panners 8 – Oilers 7

 

The opening home series for the Oilers is tied at 1-1 with the Goldpanners.

Game three is scheduled for Monday, June 7th at Oilers Park with a 6 p.m. game time.
