Alaska State Troopers were alerted to an erratic driver on Wednesday July 27 at 3:15 p.m. It was a REDDI report of a gray 2008 Ford pickup driving northbound on the Kenai Spur Highway from Big Eddy Road, including driving across the road, and nearly causing collisions, but the Alaska State Troopers and the Kenai Police Department were unable to locate the vehicle at the time of the REDDI report.

Another REDDI report was made at just before 5:00 p.m. that evening about the same vehicle on College Road with similarly reported behavior. Alaska State Troopers located and contacted the vehicle, identifying the driver as 19-year-old Lucas Daniel Standifer, according to the online trooper dispatch.

An investigation revealed he was driving the vehicle while impaired and under the influence of alcohol, and in violation of his conditions of release from a pending criminal offense.

Standifer was arrested for DUI, violations of conditions of release, and assault in the third degree, for putting one motorist in fear that he would crash into them and knock them off the road. He additionally was cited for open container of alcohol and minor consuming alcohol.

Standifer was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility and held without bail pending arraignment.

Anyone else who witnessed the vehicle, its aggressive driving behavior or were nearly struck is asked to contact Sgt. Wertanen at (907) 262-4453.
